| For Incoming 6th – Class of 2024 Parents only 6th GRADE STUDENT ORIENTATION “JAGUAR JOURNEY” Jaguar Journey is an orientation program for incoming 6th graders that covers everything they need to know about “how to do middle school” at Greene, including learning to open a combination lock and getting locker assignments, to finding their way around campus and meeting key staff. Jaguar Journey takes place the first 2 days of school, Aug 11-12, 2021, and is powered by parent volunteers! Most parent volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours. | PARENT NETWORK Middle school for Parents can be confusing and challenging, and some parents may feel a little lost. To help address some of these challenges, the Greene PTA hosts PARENT NETWORKS, smaller social circles arranged by student advisories-teams-grades for parents to more easily make connections with one another. We are looking for parents to host these smaller parent gatherings to build community. Interested? Please let us know. We hope to host Parent Coffees for all Advisory Teams for Parents to meet in a smaller group setting during the month of August. |
| Please consider joining the PTA Board for the 2021-2022 school year! Are you interested in one of our OPEN positions? Most of them are co-positions with a current Board member staying on – this is a wonderful opportunity to both “learn the ropes” and bring in your own ideas and a fresh perspective! Positions we are currently recruiting for include: Assistant Treasurer. In this role, you will work closely with our Treasurer, Kaitlyn Liao, to learn how the PTA creates and manages our budgets and spending. The Asst. Treasurer is also responsible for handling reimbursements for teachers/staff members and parents who use GPTA funds. We do ask that the parent taking on this role continue for a 2nd year (2022-2023) as the Treasurer. Co-VP of Communications. Working with our other co-VP of Communications, you will oversee PTA communications, focusing on reaching and informing parents to promote school and PTA events, programs, and activities. This role may appeal to you if you would enjoy sharing the tone and intentions of the PTA with our community. What information does our community need to feel informed, invited, and welcomed? Co-VP of Fundraising. We are looking for a partner for our current VP of Fundraising, Suzie van Valkenburg. This year, we added to our Just Parties experience the Craft Box Challenge, the Harvest Bake Sale, and the Greene Holiday Marketplace and are looking for more ideas. Do you have creative ideas for fundraising that also build community? Then this role may be perfect for you! Our goal is to fill these open roles by July 1st when our 2021-2022 term begins. |
